Defence Minister Condemns Tourist’s Killing in Kashmir, says Absolutely unfortunate and unacceptable

A day after a 22-year-old tourist from Tamil Nadu’s capital Chennai was killed in stone pelting in the Kashmir valley, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday condemned the incident and said the incident was unacceptable

The Union minister further said the government will firmly deal with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.”Absolutely unfortunate. For a tourist to be killed, it’s absolutely condemnable,” Sitharaman said. The tourist was killed on Monday evening after a mob went on the rampage and pelted stones near Narbal on the outskirts of Srinagar.

Police said the tourist, R Thirumani from Chennai, was hit on the head by a stone and sustained injuries. The incident took place in the morning. Thirumani was rushed to the SKIMS Hospital at Soura, where he succumbed to the head injury.Police have registered a case and investigations are underway in the matter.
