10th standard textbooks replace Jawaharlal Nehru’s photo with Vinayak Savarkar’s

The National Student’s Union of India is set to meet Goa CM, Manohar Parrikar, to discuss replaced Jawaharlal Nehru’s photo with late Hindutva activist, Vinayak Savarkar, in 10th standard school text books. The NSUI chief, Ahraz Mulla, accused BJP government (Goa’s ruling party) for trying to influence public with, Right-wing-Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideology.

Vinayak Savarkar, is known for praising Hilter’s Nazism ideology during World War II and, for motivating Hindus to build Hindu-India. At one point, he compared minority Muslim community in India with minority Jewish community in Germany. Despite his differences with Left-wing ideology, Vinayak is considered to be a national figure and a great leader.  

“Tomorrow, they’ll (BJP) remove the photo of Mahatma Gandhi and question us what the Congress has done in 60 years. We’ll meet Goa CM (Parrikar), but if he also follows RSS ideology and doesn’t put Jawaharlal Nehru’s photograph back, we will take to the streets and protest,” said NSUI chief, Ahraz Mulla.
